THE VILULA TEA GARDEN

...it was a little tea room in my memories...ladies wearing white gloves and pretty hats; soft and mended old linens on the tables; and heirloom roses in crystal vases....lovely.

Sisters on the Fly

Here's the picture of my little '68 Shasta caravan camper...Honkey-Tonk Angel. I originally named her Key-Lime Cowgirl, but she didn't like it. She felt that her little wings should get more attention; so, Honkey-Tonk Angel she is! She is going on the Sisters on the Fly Southern Fried Campout in Valley Head, Alabama. The campground is very close to the Caverns, where you can explore...I will be gem mining, canoeing, visiting Orbix Hot Glass at www.orbixhotglass.com, taking an herb class, having high tea, and many many more fun things, not the least is EATING some good stuff!!!

I will be out early in the morning painting and embellishing the outside of my camper...I will post pix when I am finished...You can be sure, there will be an apron painted on, somewhere! You can check out my Facebook page for more info as well! I am beyond excited, since I will be pulling my little caravan for the first time...on other Sisters camping trips, I have driven Hissy Fit, my big Navion camper...luxury, yes, but I will enjoy the kitchy fun of Honkey-Tonk Angel...that's why I joined SOTF in the first place! Join up and go with me to the Big Easy Giddy-up in New Orleans!!! You have time to join, 'get yo'self' a camper and decorate to your heart's content! It's coming up in April and it will be BIG! I'll see you there!

How 'bout a little eye candy! do any of you prefer your man in jockeys or boxers? I am of the boxer persuasion, myself...I don't have this particular pattern myself, but certainly wish I did...I just love it! I don't think I would ever make Himself any of these, but time will tell...heehee! Forgive me for my silliness, today...I just felt like it! And as my sister says, "I just am!"

Make a beautiful Hankerchief Apron...from Tip-Nut!

I absolutely love this apron tutorial...those of you that follow Tip-Nut may have already seen it. The drawings are great and the tutorial is very simple to follow. I love that you can even make this apron with squares of fabric, carefully cut exactly - I would use a rotary cutter and self-healing mat! When I have time, I am going to try this one for sure! The vintage hankie aprons are extremely hard to find and are expensive...if you make one, please let me know and send a pix! Himself and Daughter are at the Braves and Yankees game tonight! Peace reigns, tee-hee!

Soap Sally

When I was a little girl, back in the '50's, the story was told to children who misbehaved that "'Soap Sally' was going to get you"! Nobody, including my mother, knew where that came from...she said she had heard it all her life. When I googled it, I found that she was supposedly an ancient black lady who was a soap maker and it was said that she walked the streets of the mill villages kidnapping children who were unattended by an adult, then murdering them and using the fat in their bodies to make her soap.

After she died, it was said that when a small child misbehaved, Soap Sally would visit them in their dreams that night, and if they didn't wake up before she grabbed them in their dream, they would die before the morning, another victim of many. There were even reports of people having seen her many times for years, knowing full well that she was dead. Every time a child would go missing, two or three days later, Soap Sally could be seen, carrying her knapsack full of soap, scoping out the villages for another victim.

In those days, children seldom misbehaved more than once, for they were scared to death that 'Soap Sally' would get them if they didn't behave...also, the 'booger-man' was another one...we were sure scared of him, too! we were never told the scary story about an old woman who murdered children! It was enough the way the women in our family said the name! We terrified ourselves on hot summer nights, giggling and hiding and catching lightning bugs...

Bye until next week!

I will be gone a few days as I will be taking care of Mother, for her second surgery. If she gets along as well as she did last time, it will be a breeze! I don't have Internet access at her house, so it's hard to find a way to post and keep up with you, all my friends! So bear with me, and check back often..."I'LL BE BACK" - in the words of the Terminator!

Busy Bee Apron Swap

Well, here I am...wearing my super-duper wonderful Busy Bee Swap apron from Cydi, who lives in the Yukon! She included a large panel of Debbie Mum's garden fabric with a skep and bees in one of the blocks; some darling flower stickers, a busy bee button and a skep button; a do-it-yourself quilt block in a gorgeous coneflower design; three Yukon post-cards (love!) and lots of time spent on the lovely lined apron she made me. She even included garden gloves she personalized with flowers and a bee button! Lucky Lucky me, and thank you so very much, Cyndi! The picture is not the best quality, but I am having camera issues, right now...when I can resolve my issues, I will post the pictures of the other goodies in my happy package!

Busy Bee Garden Swap Apron

This is the apron I made for my swap partner in the Busy Bee Garden Swap over on Shawnee's blog...instead of garden tools or seeds, being the girlie-girl I am,
pinned on a little garden girl holding her own garden tools!

My co-worker, Teresa, is modeling it for me, since I am a teeny bit larger than my teensy swap partner, teehee...I hope she likes it as much as I do...it has three deep pockets across the front and is reversible!
